Bug description

While trying to play Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders with the following setup:

  • Device: Steam Deck
  • OS: SteamOS
  • Session: Gaming Mode
  • Engine: GZDoom

The game completely shuts down and won't open.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install Luxtorpeda compatibility tool on Steam via ProtonUp-Qt
  2. Install Steam's Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders game
  3. Under the game's properties > compatibility: choose Luxtorpeda
  4. Under the "Pick an engine" window, choose GZDoom

Expected Behavior

The game to launch after choosing GZDoom under "Pick an engine", either on Gaming Mode or on Desktop Mode.

Additional Context

Here is my troubleshooting log: heretic-luxtorpeda.log
Log generated via Konsole terminal on Desktop Mode.

Thanks for the report! I've fixed this by downgrading gzdoom, as it looks like it has the memory leak problem still on the steam deck. Could be worth re-visiting when the steam deck updates with a newer mesa.
