The Identity service is currently embedded in Lyra and accessed as a go-plugin. As such, its storage is confined to the local disk on the machine where lyra executes. This means that an infrastructure can only be reliably managed from the machine where it was first created. A way to run the Identity service in the cloud must be provided to overcome this limitation.

@thallgren I think this is a great idea. In terms of the clients accessing this identity.db, any complication in both workstation and Kubernetes users talking to the same identity.db?

@kenazk On the contrary. I think it is an absolute requirement. They must talk to the same Identity service as long as they manage the same infrastructure.
