FAQ
If the controls are somehow too confusing or get in the way, you can disable Narsil Bindings in the optional mods section in MO2 and that'll default to the VRIK bindings.
Unfortunately, this is a read/write issue, meaning something in your PC has troubles catching up. It’s usually an issue when the game is installed on a HDD as those are too slow for a modded Skyrim setup.
Q.3) I have a black screen when I launch the game. I can see the game on my desktop but not in my hmd, why is that?
This is an issue with Steam. Disable theatre mode for Skyrim VR in the SteamVR settings.
There is a difference between having your weapons holstered and having empty hands, at least when it comes to Skyrim. You'll need to hold press the left A
button (or X
for Oculus) outside of menus, otherwise the game things you're still in fighting mode, just with your hands.
Q.5) The shadows of things seem to be offset somehow and my hands have theirs way outside my hands? How do I fix this?
Make sure Dynamic Resolution is off in the Settings > VR Performance Settings menu.
What you want is the VRIK Selfie mode, You can turn the feature on in the VRIK MCM under the name Selfie Mode in one of the last categories. After you enable it, just lift your right palm up to toggle the feature on or off.
Q.7) I was in a store and wanted to buy some stuff on display, but the merchant thought I was stealing?
To purchase things interact directly with the item via Grip/A. Using HIGGS to loot (over the shoulder) or use/eat them (putting them in your mouth) will count as a crime.
Check the Performance Tips section.
Q.9) OK, I got how to increase performance, but what if I want to decrease it? I’ve got a good GPU, I wanna push it more!!
In-game set the graphic preset under Settings > VR Performance as high as you can and adjust the fade sliders too. If you still have too high a framerate, consider increasing Super Sampling and if you're on an Nvidia GPU, enabling DLAA under the Upscaler Options section.
In the barter menu or the gift menu, keep hitting "left" until you've reached the first item on the category list (titled "All"). Hit "left" again and the trade direction should toggle.
This applies to any screen where you can see an inventory list. With the first item in the list selected (or nothing selected), hit "up" once to move the sorted column to the next one. Hit "up" twice in quick succession to change the sort direction.
For trackpad users, trying using "slow swipe" and "fast swipe" to differentiate between these two actions. The number of controller vibrations indicates how many "up" events the game has registered.
If you have a lot of items to scroll through, try moving one of your sticks to the full extent in the direction you want to scroll, then move your other stick in the same direction slowly until you find a sweet spot where the scrolling speeds up drastically. It may take a few tries to get it right.
If you're finding it hard to find your destination, get the clairvoyance spell. If you feel like this is not for you, scroll to the Optional Mods category in MO2 and enable Re-enable Vanilla Map. If you want to keep using the maps but need to use the full map for any reason (VIGILANT for example doesn't have a map to buy) there is however a gesture done by hold pressing the stick on your left hand, then moving your hand in a down and back up motion fast (you’ll feel a vibration). This opens the vanilla world map.
You might’ve accidentally triggered the TCL
gesture (used for debugging and “creative gameplay”). Hold press the stick
on your right controller and in one motion push it forward and then back, then release the stick to toggle the command on or off.
Q.15) I can’t enter locked places, including my own house that I have a key for! It only prompts me to wait or knock.
This is sadly a byproduct of Simpler Knock, a mod that lets you knock at people’s doors and potentially get invited inside outside of the NPC’s regular hours. If you know you own the place or simply want to break in, sneak first and that should give you the vanilla behaviour.
Check first that you’re not tired (Spell
menu > Status
(last tab)). If that’s not the case, something might be blocking the Uncapper plugin from working correctly. Open an issue and post your SKSE & Uncapper logs from My documents\My Games\Skyrim VR folder on the #narsil-support channel on the Wabbajack discord server.
Check in the SunHelm MCM.
Q.18) I’m fine with it triggering sometimes by accidents, how do I activate spell/weapon/shout commands back?
You'll need to download Dragonborn Unlimited for that.
You might need to disable Physical Sneaking under Settings > VR
Q.20) I see Dragonborn Speaks Naturally is installed and enabled but I can't shout via my voice or change equipment. Why’s that?
By default, I have configured it to only manage dialogue. This choice was made because the voice commands for the other features are a bit wonky and can trigger accidentally (you can have your journal opening randomly, or the map, or you’ll have the Flames spell equipped randomly). Reinstall DSN if you want to bring that back.
No idea, but considering how complex this modlist is I won't be offering support for adding/removing mods nor will I offer support if you encounter any problems after, unless you can replicate them on a fresh Yggdrasil VR install. If you're fine with that, you might want to look into Lively's Learn to Mod wiki. You'll want to disable all mods from the bottom to the Synthesis patch, Synthesis patch included, add your mod somewhere there, do conflict checking in xEdit and make a separate patch that you'll load right after, then run Synthesis and reenable the rest of the mods after. Don't ask me for more info on this.
Disable Physical Sneaking under Settings > VR, then in-game go into the VRIK MCM, set the crouch height offset to -20, and adjust from there if your character's body clips weirdly into the camera when they're crouching.
