Currently we fetch global & room specific account data at once, but if we don't care about the room account data than we discard that data.

Regardless, it is confusing that we fetch those in a single place and then pass them around.

Follow-on to #14908.

Have I reviewed an earlier version of this? Getting lots of déjà vu here!

I'm very grateful to you for splitting up these two mechanisms---I think this makes the sync logic more comprehensible.

I think we should try to always specify "room account data" or "global account data"; I highlighted a few places below but might have missed a few in the diff.

I had it up for a while as a draft, so possible! 👍

I think we should try to always specify "room account data" or "global account data"; I highlighted a few places below but might have missed a few in the diff.

I think this was me being lazy with copying & pasting. Will try to clarify.
