We were using logger syntax which isn't supported by Exceptions.

Did you just find this by inspection or was it causing an issue? (And channeling @richvdh, when was this introduced?)

@clokep Good questions! It was introduced by #6565 I found it by having a broken DINSIC checkout, so not something a normal user would come across too often.

Also, perhaps the changelog should've been a bugfix.

Might be worth updating that and saying what version it was broken in. Although if other people aren't going to run into it, maybe it isn't a big deal.
