I just pulled the freshest version of mtheme and installed it on my machine. However, it seems that the frametitleoffset pgfkey is not implemented anymore, although I have seen it in #98 and in the manual. Is there a reason for that?

Is there another way to set this offset?

Thanks,

The key has been removed from the manual but the manual is not updated yet †. #113 provides a cleaner way of vertical centering thus rendering this option obsolete.

† We should host the manual somewhere else in order to avoid growing the repo indefinitely.

I do have a slide with excess vertical space between the frametitle and the beginning of the text, though. Should I remove it by hand with negative vspace, or is there a preferred way to do that?

If it's a single slide, I'd personally "fix" it with a manual vspace. If this is happening on most or all slides, then I think they are just packed too much.

Alright. Thank you for the answer and the beautiful theme!
