#Database Workshop Brainstorming ##Time and Place
- at: migration hub
- time (tentatively):
- Saturday 11:00 to 20:00 + socializing
- Sunday 11:00 to 17:00
##Current status ###Metabrain
- has a partially curated spreadsheet
- spreadsheet columns and database schema have been matched
- database is being developed by TU students (in Django)
- active cooperation with social collective
- putative cooperation with refugeeboard.de and socialprohub.org
- separation of work in a joint project is unclear at the moment
- clear definition of working packages is missing
###General
- there is a recognized, immediate(!) need for a refugee project overview or centralized database
- several meta-projects already exist
- none of the projects has established itself as the central repository with a large userbase
##Why?
- metabrain has no published prototype
- a database is needed now not in half a year
- just like a database is needed in order to reduce duplication of effort between projects, we want to join forces with other meta projects
- we want one database not ten
- we want to agree on a system of categories
- if we can't agree on one database, can we at least agree on a system to exchange information, allow interoperability?
- we need a clear definition of next steps and working packages
- 2-3 weekly sessions are not as productive as we think an intense workshop will be
##Goal
- connect with everyone working on similar databases
- find out:
- with whom we can work
- how we will work together
- what we want to do
- by what time we want things done
- agree on a system to categorize projects
- agree on an API to exchange information (if necessary)
- working packages for each party
- communication policy for cooperative database (who, why, what)
##Who is involved? ###Organizers
- metabrain
- refugeeboard
- migration hub
###Potential Participants
- socialprohub
- Finn
- TU students
- Prosper Community (RefugeeProjects.com)
- social collective
- refugee hackathon (Markus)
- UI/UX designer (Markus' network)
- further partners (see Britta's list)
###How can we reach the goals?
- develop agenda for Saturday and Sunday
- invite participants (before and after the new year)
- talk to Oli about organizing catering
- limit number of participants?
- potential sessions:
- intro by metabrain + refugeeboard + socialprohub
- get to know each other (representatives and their projects)
- identify alignment of goals and willingness to work together
- identify best practices (what has worked well for each of the projects)
- develop and agree on categories (metabrain + refugeeboard)
- develop common API or information exchange format
- communications strategy
- assign responsible people for sessions
###Till when?

- Catering Wednesday 2016-01-06
