When I switch --no-fonts the problem goes away.

Could you elaborate the problem a bit more? I currently can't reproduce the issue. Both attached SVG files look fine to me. What program to display the SVG files do you use?

The file EmbeddedFontsTooBig.zip was added: Archive with two versions converted from same DVI file, one with --no-font, the other without.
