Normal Usage of screen ruler, Getting black screen instead of whatever is on my screen

I expected my screen to appear

❌ Actual Behavior

But instead a black screen appears and i cannot do what i wanted

Hi @kira1433, thanks for the report!

This issue is likely caused by either Direct2D API quirk or Capture API, because what you see as a black screen is the captured screenshot which we draw to "freeze" the desktop while measuring.

What's your Windows version? Also, can you please check whether animation or transparency settings are off on the Desktop? Finally, you can try Win+Shift+S to check that you're able to capture a screenshot, it uses the same API as we do.

Finally, you could also enable "Continuous capture" mode in the settings, it doesn't draw any overlay.

The issue got fixed randomly, it must have been a issue from my side, sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your work.
