Version

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22489.1000]

WSL Version

  • WSL 2
  • WSL 1

Kernel Version

5.10.60.1

Distro Version

Ubuntu-20.04

Other Software

Remote Desktop Connection (Windows 10 release 21H1)

Repro Steps

  1. Start a machine learning training using CUDA inside the WSL environment
  2. Connect to Windows using another computer and RDP
  3. Use the connection for a while, then close it, and then reconnect again
  4. Eventually, this will fail, you will stare at a black screen on reconnection, and the computer will eventually reboot

This is a difficult to reproduce issue as this requires setting up RDP on your machine with a CUDA-enabled GPU and use this GPU from a WSL virtual machine. Also, it doesn't crash right away, it takes time for the system to get slower and slower, as if something was leaking and never getting cleaned.

Expected Behavior

Using CUDA+WSL should not slowly degrade the performance then crash the computer while a RDP connection is being used

Actual Behavior

The computer UI becomes slower and slower (especially Microsoft Edge) and will eventually fail
