Text Extractor moves blocks of text #31643
Comments
This is an issue with the underlying OCR engine. You can use the Single Line Mode (or press S before selecting a region) which will move all of the OCR'd text into a single line. |
Not closed for me.
I looked at the help for the PowerToy, and the git hub for the tool it was
based on. There is no mention of this "single line mode". Could the
help/documentation be updated to describe this mode and others.

Thanks for the tip. Finally got a chance to try it. It helps.
First time I tried clicking on the button completely cleared the problem.
Then I tried it 2 more times to paste here. The results were better than
the result that triggered me to try, but not as good a first time that
prompted this reply.
It suggests to me that the selection box is very "fussy", slightly
different selections, nominally all excluding excess text and graphics,
generates different, "not good" results ... This also probably could/should
be noted in the documentation. Include examples ...

I cannot see the images because you replied via email, but yes the underlying OCR engine is very fussy and can change the output when on repeated selections. Since this system is owned by the Windows team it is out of PowerToys Scope to fix it. |
Doesn't the Windows team see these problem logs?
As I said before, it would be helpful if the documentation could be updated
to reflect that "fussiness" so people know what action they can take to try
to fix the problem, ie zoom in more on the text to be captured so that the
selection can be done to better exclude unwanted elements ...
Just saying, Since neither of us can fix the the code, the remaining fix is
to improve the documentation to identify potential problems and fixes that
are available to the end user.
Thanks

I have to cut and paste it back into the right place
It seems to be affected by the size of the window I'm capturing from. If I resize it, the capture works correctly. But resizing is not on!
