Description of the new feature / enhancement

I'd like a feature where you can set Desktop folders to open into a simplified window of shortcuts similar to Start Menu Pinned folders. Think of this as a crossover between the Start Menu Pinned folders and Stardock's Fences.

Scenario when this would be used?

  • On the desktop, of course.
  • This is important for me since Fences is shareware and a competing product caled Portals is donationware, and I couldn't find any open-source alternatives to both (both are proprietary). I want an open-source variant.
  • This is also useful if someone doesn't want to have File Explorer opened when trying to group Desktop shortcuts into folders.
