Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to convert STL to string using the current tools. The STL conversion is done using the OpenCascade STLAPI module and it does not have the capability to create strings. Files only. Technically, it is possible to extract the mesh from the model and write a simple converter, but it would require some work.
