Like many DJs I like to take requests when working. So far I have migrated from a pen-and-paper approach to an electronic one, Alt-Tabbing between Mixxx and Gedit to save requests. It would be really elegant if there were a notepad-style widget within Mixxx itself so that we didn't have to leave the program at all to take notes. I'd envisage this could be a sidebar option alongside Library, Browse, iTunes/Rhythmbox etc. that simply brings up a text-editor widget in the library area. Wouldn't have to be anything fancy, just plain text. Ideally there would be an option to save the notes as a text file, and it would just wipe clean on Mixxx exit.

An alternate idea I've had is to set up a request kiosk PC that accesses your Mixxx DB to show people what songs you have available. They can then double-click the song and it gets automatically added to a special playlist that you only have to remember to check from time to time.

Most of the DB-to-PHP work has already been done by a forum user here: http://mixxx.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1477 so there's not much left to getting it working in the manner I describe. (I plan to set up this exact thing for myself.)

Sorry for possible gravedigging, but I wanted to submit a similar feature request and stumbled uppon this. So before posting a duplicate I thought of asking if this is still on the radar?

Maybe it would make sense to tie the notes to individual Crates or Playlists. This way one could add notes to a Crate (e.g. like "Use track FOO for transition into genre BAR"). The editor could be a trival textfield with an scrollbar and could be displayed instead of e.g. the cover.

I usually go to gigs with notes on paper or notes in a txt or lists in markdown files. such a functionality would make it definitly easier.

This is still an open wishlist bug and actually one, which I would use as well.
It will fit well into the new library design

Proposed here #1117

It would be an Notepad icon on the left bar.

Do you have fun to adopt this bug?
