The documentation says
server_auth - The Boolean of whether or not to use authentication (default: false).
when it should be :plain, :login, or :cram_md5 as described here: http://apidock.com/ruby/Net/SMTP/start/class

This is fixed in master and will be going out in v0.12.0 very soon.
