There exists a bread of gems users who like to run testsuites and use rake ;-). Officially packaging the tests and Rakefile makes that much easier and more convenient.

Ah, sorry, I was for some unknown reason using grit-1.1.1 -- wait, I know why, because grit-1.1.1 is listed on rubyforge -- but grit-2.3.0's gem has the Rakefile and is only missing the tests.
