After many failed attempts... I noticed that It seems like Eclipse 4 doesn't support anything under the classic Eclipse 3.x org.eclipse.ui such as the project explorer/navigator, the consoleView, propertiesView etc. Those are not native to e4 yet, some refactoring is yet under planning.

However, this article sounds promising in terms of step-by-step how to add classical Eclipse 3.x views by using Eclipse 4 “Compatibility Layer”.
