Update: bug is because the ndc_rays function is wrong.

so apparently ndc is only for forward facing scenes, which, now that I know what forward facing scenes are, actually make a lot of sense LOL

Seems like unstable training initialization is a common issue. Let's update to include cropping at the very least.
