Printing or accessing the value of any variable in an HDF5 file seems to cause a memory leak related to each of its attributes I am not sure whether it is also true for global attributes or for NetCDF4 files. I believe the leak is in the "advanced" file system code and not in the HDF5-specific code but I am not sure of that yet.
