@msalvadores states in the README for this repository:

"This is a copy of The Basic Formal Ontology (BFO). For testing and reliability NCBO/BioPortal needs to maintain its own copy of BFO."

The BFO ontology is now hosted on GitHub. The ontology IRI for version 1.1 of BFO (http://www.ifomis.org/bfo/1.1) reliably resolves to a physical file in their GitHub repository.

It's not apparent to me that we still need this repository in the NCBO organization.

Remove mapping to NCBO maintained BFO ontology

We used to maintain our own copy of the BFO ontology for reliability purposes. This no longer appears necessary as BFO is now hosted on GitHub. See ncbo/bfo#1.
