Though the above method did not work for me, so i downloaded the fauxapi from the package manually using curl and installed.

Thanks for the screenshot - the issue seems to be somewhere between the cut-n-paste that I'm guessing you'd make when going from the index README.md and into your terminal.

If you take a close look at the single-tick-mark characters ' on the first and second set statements in your screenshot you'll notice they are not the expected single-tick-marks - this makes sense since it looks like you are accessing a VM terminal which must have different character encoding than the web-page (UTF8)
