Cleaning repo

The repository contains a lot of compiled files (.pyc), it is better to remove them and use a .gitignore file to avoid to deploy them again.
The main and only file of the project contains a lot of commented lines, it is better to remove the ones not used anymore.

A good practice is that the guy that opened the issue will also close it.
Btw, this issue is not closed at all: e.g., "the repository contains a lot of compiled files (.pyc)" ==> files are still there. (and also other, e.g., tar?)

Why are the following files still there?

• .tmp.xml
• .universalnode.xml
• .txt.xml

What about the other XML files? Are they needed? If so, please document them.

.tmp.xml, .universalnode.xml and .txt.xml files are no longer in the repository.
template.xml and port_info.xml files have been documented in README
