When using signOut -> SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

My code is rather simple where I just call the signOut function on click of a button but I end up with the error

Unhandled Runtime Error
SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

My code is just -

<DropdownItem
        className={classNames(className, "!ml-0")}
        onClick={() => {
          totalSignOut();
          signOut();
        }}
      >
      Sign out
</DropdownItem>

Any ideas on what might be going wrong?
