Renovate will sometimes overwrite changes made to the branch. I suspect this happens more often if one changes their commit and not if one pushes a new commit (at least i've seen renovate messages that it won't touch the branch anymore as it saw another commit on it).
So I tried /compile instead of /compile amend /. Let's see how that goes.

update: turns out the branch was behind master already. So need to rebase anyway. I guess renovate will overwrite the rebase again - but we'll see.
