Dear members of the io.js Chinese (China) WG iojs-cn

It is proposed to rename this repo to:

nodejs/nodejs-zh-CN

As part of the io.js and node.js convergence, node.js releases are now based on the codebase and user base of the converged node.js and io.js communities. A number of the resources and repositories have already been renamed.
In the absence of objections or other discussion, this rename will occur on or after Oct 28, 2015

However, active language working groups should take ownership of this issue and discuss/dispose of it according to their own processes.

For more information or to discuss the overall issue, please see and comment on nodejs/node#2525

This statement was authorized by the Node.js TSC

Please note as with nodejs/nodejs-zh-TW#138 my proposal includes language and region in your WG's new name. There were only two groups that used a region name as group name, all others were strictly language.

Region subtags are interesting. We are going to have WG for Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore as well then.

Yep, Chinese everywhere.

It's HARD to unify China.

Agree for this. 👍

That's why it's a question. There's already iojs-tw which I proposed as
nodejs-zh-TW

Is this working group nodejs-zh-Hans versus Hant (split by orthography)?
And not just zh-cn?

I was going by the wg description which said "... In China" and the CN in
the title.

What do Others think?

Orthography is not the key, as automatic translation tools exist between simplified and traditional Chinese characters. I would prefer a unified Chinese WG.

automated tools

That's not 1:1 though.

I would prefer a unified Chinese WG.

Please propose this to iojs-tw and iojs-cn if you didn't already.

The original WG purpose is for localizations team. I prefer nodejs-zh-CN and nodejs-zh-TW. :)

My opinion there.
Taiwan is a part of China, which is clear. But we should realize, that there are many differences between China Mainland and Taiwan. For better localization, I agree to have different WGs. But there might be a better solution, which is a unified WG with 2 or more teams in it.

I think Taiwan is NOT a part of China. But we do have same origin on
language and culture.

Please treat "China" in my words as a cultural definition instead of a political one. We do have similar culture and same language. The relationship between China Mainland and Taiwan is not similar with the one between UK and US. Whether you think Taiwan is a country or not, you can't say no to the fact that Taiwan has a strong dependency on Mainland, stronger than any connection between Mainland and another country.

@mingtsay @alsotang

Country or not, governments decide it;
WG or not, we decide it.

@dca There should be only one country called China, for now, we have no agreement on governments. But political things shouldn't have a strong connection with a open source localization group. My opinion is to have one WG with two or more teams in it.

Why not two WGs? It would be better localize. The characters translation has so many different part between CN and TW.

You decide CN, we decide TW. :)

Hi @laosb

nodejs-zh-TW and nodejs-zh-CN 👍

As @jessy1092 comment, You decide CN, we decide TW. and the most important thing is Taiwan is NOT a part of China.
