Time for a new newsletter! We're looking for three to five short segments about what's going on in the NodeSchool community. Are you an organizer, a mentor, or an attendee? Please pitch in! Add a comment to this thread with the text of your segment, or a link to a gist, blog post, tweetstorm, whatever you've got.

"Segments"?

A segment should be a couple paragraphs and a couple photos, in Markdown.

Ideas for segments:

  • Reviews of events in the style of this thread
  • Workshop spotlight, to get readers excited about a workshop that they might not try on their own
  • Pretty much anything else you think people might wanna hear about!

Nodeschool Toronto

Nodeschool TO

2015 saw the beginning of Nodeschool Toronto. Our goal at the start was to provide an event every month. Besides a small summer break, we have hit this mark! It's been amazing to see the group grow in size with each event.

We've started to experiment with new ideas. For example, the team introduced lightning talks at the beginning of the event. In these talks mentors discuss topics like debugging in node, new features in ES6, and electron.

The mentors are not the only people presenting talks, attendees who have been working on something they are proud of are encouraged to demo their project! Communication is also key to keeping things moving, the Toronto chapter slack has been a great way for mentors and attendees to keep in touch.

In 2016 we are looking to keep the momentum going, creating a safe space for attendees to learn and have fun!

@iancrowther @Rchristiani awesome, thanks for the content! If I don't see anything else within the week, maybe I'll do a Vancouver write up as well and this can be the Canuck edition.
