Could anyone give some pointers on how to get KeyKit up and running on Mac OSX? Is there a version here that is compatible? Thanks for any help!

I'm also interested.

It was ported to the Mac many many years ago (I believe it was pre-OSX), so there's some code in mdep/mac that might be resurrected at some point, but it hasn't been updated in probably decades, so there's no chance it will work without some serious effort.

I actually have a version called KeyKitX (7.2i b3) (ported by Jack R. Wright?) that seems to be from about 2004 that is for Mac OS X 10.2 but it doesn't work with the more recent OS X unfortunately...

Note that the recent checkin of rtmidi support in the Windows (mdep/nt) version should make it easier to resurrect the keykit port on modern Mac OSX, whenever someone decides to do that.

I use KeyKit windows version on a Apple Sillicon M1 (Montery) installed via Wineskin.app_(Wineskin WS11WineCX64bit22.01) I have it running on an intel as well. It runs very good!
I use this Winskin Winery.app V1.8.4.2 to download winebottels and to install Wineskin.
All midi out ports your computer have IAC and other virtual ports & external midi shows up in KeyKit.
