Unity launcher icons no longer work after upgrade

Received an upgrade this morning and now my launcher icons in Unity no longer use numix. Status icons and icons inside of Nautilus are fine. Seems to be just the launcher. Tried reinstalling, no dice. Seems like it's falling back to stock icons.

Using Ubuntu 13.10 and numix ppa.

Same problem here, with exact same configuration. Tried other icon-themes (numix-utouch, numix-utouch-gs and numix-circle), they all work fine. Even when I swap /usr/share/icons/Numix-uTouch with /usr/share/icons/Numix, the problem stays. Fix would be appreciated, I really love this icon-theme!

We separated the icon theme yesterday, which means we (the team) are maintaining only the -circle and -rhombus one (which you probably haven't seen and it will be paid only one).
We will soon upload numix-icon-theme shine which will have the same apps icons as this one used to have, but beware that we're not supporting it (or the uTouch one). We will leave the support of those two to the community.

Is there a blog post somewhere that describes what is happening? Regular Numix is by far my favourite icon them (I would pay for it) and it seems this split has completely broken it. I see there is a 'shine' Github repo created but I don't see a package for it yet. Is there any eta on when that will be ready?

Somehow icons are disappeared in various applications. For example: home button and refresh button in Chrome. If I disable Numix-shine icon theme, these buttons are visible again... See screenshot:

We're redoing the action icons, hence the breakage. They will soon be back looking better than ever.
