I'm using NVDA in the English language with a Dutch voice, language switching enabled. This means that the punctuation symbols are pronounced in Dutch. However, when selecting text (shift + left arrow or right arrow), the English names for the punctuation symbols are pronounced where the Dutch ones should be.
Blocking #4874

Confirmed. This is one of several problems with the way we currently speak selection, since we speak it as a single text message.
Changes:
Changed title from "Language switching doesn't apply to punctuation when selecting text" to "No language switching when selecting text"

I think this is strongly related to #7427.

Closing in favor of #7427 which contains more current discussion and a pull request which could be followed on.
