From time-to-time I spot these and never raise an issue, so this is a holding issue for limitations in configure.

configure should be checking for

  • patch - (usually) necessary if lib-ext is recommended. It could clever check for the presence of src_ext/patches
  • bzip2 - (usually) necessary if lib-ext is recommended, and at very least not part of the CentOS Minimal box I'm presently working on...
