[Question] Can vanilla clients connect?

I see in the mod description that its required on both server and client to work, but can vanilla clients connect to a server with the mod (without the ability to utilize the mod)?

I haven't tested that before, but I assume it would work fine. There's no handshake or anything that would fail if the client was vanilla.
