Unable to install Meteor

Hi,

I'm trying to install Meteor for the first time to teach myself the stack.
I followed the steps at : https://www.meteor.com/install, but when I run the install command in Terminal, i get the following error:

curl: (7) Failed to connect to host port 0: Operation timed out

I looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22127498/meteor-0-7-1-2-installation-error for information on how to resolve this, but as I'm still very much a noob in the field, I'm not sure how to resolve the issue and getting Meteor installed successfully.

I'd appreciate any help wrt how to get meteor installed successfully, thanks in advance.
