Openhab allows to add configuration parameters to things and items. So whenever an update occurs a modification parameter should be added. This way it is guaranteed that when one component is down, the next synchronization will pickup the most recent state.
Therefore unit configs should also get a timestamp for the last modification.

Has been implemented in bco.device.openhab.
