Current script mistakes the Linux Mint version for the Ubuntu Release.
- Prevent "commands commence before first target" error when `MAKEFILE_DEBUG` is defined.

This continues to place extra output behind the
MAKEFILE_DEBUGguard to decrease chatter during the build and processes.Also, ignores printing other errors during the build process (e.g.
cat .compiler_flagswhen.compiler_flagsdoesn't exist.)
