It would be good to be able to search across all OpenSpending's datasets. This way, I could check how much the countries spend in Education, or find out about a specific company, etc..

We already have the search API (i.e. http://openspending.org/api/2/search?q=cameroon). We might have a problem because it doesn't return any info about the result's dataset.

If just pushed a changed API which includes a field "dataset": str for each entry.

Just the dataset name? It would be good to have, at least, the URL as well. Also, depending on the visualisation, it might be wasteful to put this into each result. If you search for a dataset name, it'll return all entries in it, each with a copy of the dataset information. So it might be better to group the results by dataset instead.
