The experience in-route could be improved through small changes in the UI to be more clear and user-friendly.

Criteria

  • Move the speed limit out of the bottom toolbar. It can be just above the toolbar or in the upper right of the screen as is common in many apps.
  • Move the current speed out of the bottom toolbar to be below the speed limit sign.
  • When routing in Drive or Public Transport mode, don't show a decimal place for the speed, which makes it look too cluttered and unnecessary (continue to display decimal place for walking and biking).
  • In the bottom toolbar, display the length of time for the trip (ex. 14 minutes) on the right side of the toolbar.
  • Display the estimated time of the arrival in the center (remove the toggle).
  • Update the display of navigation instructions in the top bar, for exiting a freeway - instead of "[5A] > Rampart Boulevard", display "Exit 5A - Rampart Boulevard". Need to account for localized names for "Exit".
  • Nice to Have (not Required): Display the speed limit not as just a number but as a sign of the specific country, based on the current location of the GPS.

It's a good question where the speed and speed limit should be displayed. It's at the top right in CarPlay, and in many other apps, and it's convenient.
