Why commiting htaccess.txt and not direct .htaccess #9

Everything is in the issue title!

Maybe there are some constraints I can't see, but the .htaccess file may be directly stored as .htaccess in the repository.

If you are using a Mac you would have a problem with the .htaccess file as the .files are reserved for the system.

No they're not, some might be like .DS_Store but everything else you can use freely, thank god.

Ah sorry just went full retard -.- They just become invisible for people that don't have the hidden file feature enabled.

People that use apache2 should know about the existance of .htaccess and the shortcut Cmd + H
