Version control of project.json files

The project.json file is currently not versioned, making it impossible to see how the project has changed over time, or to recover after making an accidental edit.

We'll put this on hold for now as we need to find a versioning model that keeps the project consistent as well.

We need to version the schema of the project.json as well. This is something that I believe we discussed sometime back. Also, need to agree on that schema (especially the use of mixed case etc). Best to have a team chat on this.
