Please could you hold off merging until I've checked all the enum inherited variants stuff? I think there might be one more place it needs to be added to the macros. I'll check that in next few hours.

Grrr. The end result of the enum variant inheritance scheme is good I think, but current implementation of it with all these macros is terrible!

Ok, there are still problems with this PR, and the current solution is incorrect

I checked, and I was wrong. Nothing missing on the enum variants inheritance stuff - you have it all correct already.
