Stripe payment_processor.checkout creating multiple PaymentIntents

I am just using stripe checkout by creating a checkout and redirecting to the checkout url. When I check the payment intents on the stripe dashboard it creates three separate intents. I contacted stripe and they told me to add a idempotency_key but that only works when if I were to create a charge, not checkout session.
