For my current project I'm using matlab so it's a bit easier to use the matlab implementation of picard. While the extended option is clearly visible for the python picard implementation I'm not sure if it is available for matlab.

Hi,

Unfortunately it is not available as such. In picardo (i.e. picard with ortho=True), the extended version is automatically used to mimic the behavior of fastica.

If I have some time I'll try and make the option available in Matlab

Thanks, that's what I thought - I think I will use python for picard then. I will take a look at the python vs matlab code to see if porting from python to matlab is straightforward. If it is then I could submit a PR.
