As there is not (official) HomeKit support for the Rain gauge at the moment, could you consider adding the option to show a binary moisture sensor for it, to be triggered when a user specified amount of rain has been detected?
With a binary sensor, you get the option to set-up automations and notifications. This could be useful for users who might want to automate their irrigation system or would simply want to be warned about the rain.
The notifications are a bit weird as they will be something like "Leak detected in the Garden", but are in my opinion the best that can be achieved without proper rain gauge / rain sensor support.
I currently have this set up via Home Assistant's HomeKit integration, it looks like this:
