We're using Timescale as a drop-in replacement for vanilla Postgres for distributed hypertable capability.
This official high-availability Docker container makes a use of Patroni for connection pooling, failover, et cetera. However, it seems that pgcat is a very exciting prospect and could prove an improvement when compared directly, or in a particular setting. For example, we are struggling somewhat with self-hosted Postgres in AWS, and would love to just take something off the shelf that would be configurable enough to hopefully stay close enough to the edge of be it Timescale, PostgresML, or any other extension's release cycle.
At any rate, if pgcat provided an API close enough to that of Patroni's, it could function as a drop-in in such positions.

Hey there,

Perhaps something to consider.
Best regards
