Programmes and Modules
Programmes and Courses exist within Work Packages in WAM.
To create a programme you will need its code (usually from other IT systems) and title.
You can assign a course director, or several course directors to a programme.
You can assigned an external examiner, or several to a programme.
Modules exist within Work Packages, and typically also belong to one or more Programmes within the Work Package.
Modules have a Code and a Name as per Programmes, they also contain information as to which Campus they are delivered on.
Module Semesters are usually either 1, 2 or 3. Formally, they are a comma separated list of those. In other words, a value of 1,2 shows that the activity is split across two semesters, and 1,2,3 over the whole year and so on.
You will need to choose a Size range, and number of Credit points for your module. You will also have the option to edit Contact Hours, Assessment Hours, and other Admin Hours.
WAM encourages you to consider Assessment separately from other Admin to cause staff to consider just how much time they can afford to allocate to this activity, so that they design Assessment and deliver it within that "budget".
If you leave these fields blank WAM will estimate values from a combination of the constants you defined in the Work Package setup, and any scaling factors defined in your Module Sizes.
Alternatively you can directly specify some or all of this figures and these numbers will be considered instead.
You can specify which Programmes the Module belongs to, and also, which Programme should be considered the "Lead Programme". This is used to identify which External Examiner should have primacy over assessment items relating to this module.
You can also assign a coordinator, and one or more Moderators. This is currently only used in code for handling Assessment.
