Major Updates

  • Doubles (Direct mode, no matchmaking). Play with even more friends than before (#225).
  • Quick Chat - press any D-Pad button to open a set of messages to send to your opponent (#217).
  • Direct Connect Code History. Spend less time typing codes and more time playing (#272).
    • The histories for singles and teams are separate.

  • Add an option in Dolphin Config -> Slippi to set the netplay port used (#265).
  • Port range has expanded to 41000-51000 (423beb4).
  • Improved Chat textures (#271).
  • Fix chat bug which could cause Dolphin to crash (#262).
  • Fix disconnected while paused bug (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm#67).
    • In singles, the game will unpause if your opponent disconnects while paused.
    • In doubles, you will be able to unpause if your teammate disconnects while paused.
  • Center HUD code will only apply if players 1 and 2 (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm@088216e).

Windows

  • Show an error message if the updater isn't available and don't crash (85235b4).
    • Thanks AV software :p
  • Remove auto VC redistributable installation from installer (project-slippi/dolphin-slippi-tools#3).
    • We hope this reduces the chances of the installer getting flagged and deleted by AV software.

Major Updates

  • Updated to UCF 0.8 and UCF is active by default everywhere in game. UCF 0.8 includes improvements to mash out of tumble
  • Delay Frames on all in game scenes (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm#54 and 29c3127)
    • Don't use the netplay window for local play and practice anymore.
  • Hold Z to Disconnect from your opponent in direct and unranked.
  • Log out confirmation Dialog.
  • Fixed a possible desync with Fox's tail
  • Added a toggle for experimental input polling stabilization logic for overclocked adapters by Arte

Minor updates and fixes

  • Fix a crash when your opponent quits out on the splash screen (#198).
  • Frame1 config is now included for when all of you new wave box players get it (Windows only atm, we can make other variants available if we get sent configs for them).
  • Player names are now extracted in a way that will allow them to show up when watching replays
  • Fixed LRAS indicator for unranked replays

This is a small release in preparation for 2.3.0 in which we will be releasing a lot of highly requested features including doubles and pre-set chat messages. Before that happens we will be running a Patreon only beta to ensure all the bugs are ironed out.

  • Unranked MMR and SBMM for newer players (#233)
    • Our goal is to increase new player retention by giving them fewer games against very skilled players that reduce their enjoyment and more matches against players near their skill level.
    • This will not affect matchmaking for players of average skill or better.
  • Add beta support for M1 Macs (5838d95)
    • Please report any issues in our #mac-support discord channel.
  • Fix RNG on CSS (#221)
    • It previously used the synced seed from the last game, so you would random the same character as your opponent every time.

Minor updates and fixes

  • Add a button to manually refresh the gecko code list in case dolphin fails to update itself (d9c3b68)

Windows

  • Dolphin.exe -> Slippi Dolphin.exe (2ba32c1)

macOS

  • Slippi Dolphin.app is now signed and notarized (#212 / #214)
    • Should lead to fewer issues with downloading and running the app for new users.

This is a minor release primarily to get ready for broadcasting Slippi Champions League. Unfortunately broadcasting functionality is not fully ready for the public yet but we are working on it!   • Only tournament legal characters are allowed in Unranked mode (54b7318 & ea57b44)
    • This also prevents various crashes due to users picking characters that break the splash screen
    • Goodbye Giga Bowser and Mario Climbers, it was fun while it lasted =)

  • Only Melee is supported by Slippi Dolphin. For all other GC and Wii games please use Official Dolphin. The official Dolphin release has had multiple years of bug fixes and improvements for other games and is much better suited to playing them. (#150)

  • ICs Freeze glitch is no longer possible (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm@0e90140)
  • Fix Peach's Castle crash when players tie in Direct mode (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm@c4c41bf)

macOS

  • macOS Dolphin.app is now Slippi Dolphin.app (#153)
    • Save path will now correctly show up on the website when logging in
  • Give a better error message when macOS users haven't moved the Dolphin.app (#143)
  • macOS's default Internal Resolution is now 1x (#147)
  • macOS screensaver won't activate if the game is running (#152)

Linux

  • Fix updater, all Linux users will need to manually redownload this release (9469fe4)

Major Updates

  • macOS and Linux Release! (a ton of work with credits to, but not limited to, metaconstruct, Fizzi, knux, and Nikki)
    • macOS does not have auto updates at this time, but we are working on a solution.
    • Linux users can now skip the build time and get into the game thanks to our AppImages.
  • Get your tournament sets finished earlier with Stage Select! First stage is random and loser picks after that. Only supported in Direct mode (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm#24)
  • Having rumble on should no longer cause performance issues for some people (#108)
  • Random stage select in unranked will cycle through all the options before picking a stage again (9364bbe)
    • The randomizer resets whenever you queue up again.
  • Adapter issues are handled better. It now uses the last known inputs if the adapter has an error (#112)
    • Poll rate is now shown in the GC Adapter Config window. If your adapter is polling below 120hz then try using a different USB port. See the image below for reference.
  • qdobp and Nyko GC adapters now work with Dolphin's Wii U Adapter mode! Some other offbrand adapters might also work (#123)
    • If your adapter shows up as GameCube for Switch in Zadig, then it is likely to be fixed.
  • Name tags underneath the percents are now smaller and have more transparent background (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm@ef3e1a9)
  • Fix bug where client side LRAS would cause the replays to not contain time, player names, or connect codes (project-slippi/slippi-ssbm-asm@612bf43)

  • Users with non-english characters in their path will no longer have an empty replay directory (#92)
  • Removing an ISO path with no path selected no longer crashes the Dolphin (#93)
  • Having no replay directory will now force the default to be used (#96)
  • Texture Scaling has been removed from Dolphin due to crashes on Pokemon Stadium (#115)
  • Widescreen mode will no longer cause in-game text to stretch
  • It should no longer be possible for nametag backgrounds to overlap
