Seems as if Roku 1 doesn't support the '+=' operation, need to remove this in order to allow the channel to run on the 1.

Adds a preference to allow users to enable support for Roku 1.

This commit guards calls to the UpdateText function, since that's not
supported on the Roku 1 firmware apparently. Issue #157.
