What we type is ofteno personal and can be sensitive. For this reason, ZipChord is built with strong privacy and security features in mind.

To ensure you can trust ZipChord, its development philosophy adheres to several principles:

  • ZipChord is built with AutoHotkey which is a safe, transparent, and recognized scripting tool.1
  • ZipChord does not send any information or signals over the internet or local network. It only contains passive links to web pages and allows you to manually initiate a download of dictionaries.2
  • ZipChord keeps the most recent key presses in its working memory. This is regularly cleared each time a punctuation, space, or other events such as mouse click or Enter are encountered.3
  • Finally, ZipChord is open source, so it is easy for anyone to verify these facts by reviewing its source code.
Notes
  1. Bad actors can create malicious programs in AutoHotkey (just like in any other language), but AutoHotkey itself is completely safe.

  2. There are links available to new releases and documentation. This means there is no automated update notification available.

  3. The typing efficiency percentages are tallied only based on how the last one hundered words were entered, without storing the words in memory.
