What about add flag --src-layout to hatch new?

Given that this appear to be fairly common, why not add the possibility of adding a flag to create a folder structure with the src structure?
I know that one could write a hatch config file prior to run hatch new, but it may be tedious.
To me the best would be just to run

hatch new --src-layout "Hatch Demo"

and then to edit stuff directly in the generatedpyproject.tomlfile.

What do you think?

Hey @ofek although src layout is a default now, what are your thought about introducing the cli and/or env variable nevertheless? I completely agree with @ubaldot that it's cumbersome to make a config file for something that is essentially a switch.

heya @ofek i'm curious is there a setting to create a src/ dir as i just used hatch new and got this so rather than a src/ dir it called is pyosmeta:

is the key to create a config file first with:

[template.plugins.default]
src-layout = true

this is confusing (and i'm happy to open an issue but i wanted to ensure i understand that i'm doing things correctly first!) because i go to the intro - after installing hatch

and it says to run hatch new. and i do but it creates a structure that is slightly different than the docs show.
many thanks for clarification and if this is a documentation update might be needed i'm happy to submit a pr. if this is user error please let me know! :)

@lwasser make sure you've updated your hatch utility -- mine was defaulting to the previous structure until I upgraded, and now hatch new results in a src/ layout. Agreed that the documentation does not match though.
