Oh you mean you plan to add a result-log replacement into the core? I thought you wanted it out of the core and delegated to external plugins (TAP here is only a suggestion, we can add others). |

Anyway not sure keeping it around makes sense now that we are throwing errors when |

the replacement should be something in core i'd like to get to a place where we can generate junitxml and html reports from replaying the "testlogs" |

This is a common source of confusion among new users, which write:

Because the ``assert_called_with`` method of mock objects already executes an assertion.

Following our plan to remove deprecated features with as little disruption as
possible, all warnings of type ``RemovedInPytest4Warnings`` now generate errors
instead of warning messages.

`Deprecations and Removals <https://docs.pytest.org/en/latest/deprecations.html>`__
section in the docs for directions on how to update existing code.
In the pytest ``4.0.X`` series, it is possible to change the errors back into warnings as a stop
gap measure by adding this to your ``pytest.ini`` file:
