Author Name: Nico Tripcevich (Nico Tripcevich)
Original Redmine Issue: 22098
Affected QGIS version: 3.6.1
Redmine category:c++_plugins/georeferencer

When Georeferencing one clicks the Source raster in the Georeferencer window to place a GCP and then the Enter Map Coordinates window appears and one can enter coordinates or click Click Map Canvas button to place the Target GCP on the map canvas.
Currently a red dot indicating the location of the Source GCP does not appear until AFTER clicking the Target GCP or providing coordinates. This is unfortunate because Georeferencing often involves looking back and forth from Source to Target but currently you can't see where precisely you clicked the Source. You have to remember where you clicked. If there is a delay until you click the Target or you have to pan around to find the coordinates to type in you might forget where you clicked.
Suggestion: change code so that as soon as you click to place a Source GCP a point symbol appears. Not after you've placed the Target GCP (by then it's basically too late!) but berfore you place the target GCP.

Seems like a feature request and not a bug.

I've noticed this too. Would be a very useful feature.
